Telecoms Beg NCC To Block Whatsapp, Skype, IMO And Other OTT Services


Nowadays, only few people make international calls due to the presence of Over-the-top (OTT) plays like Whatsapp, Skype, Wechat, Facebook, Viber and IMO. This caused a global revenue loss of $386 billion, from 2012 to 2018 for the telecoms operators. Hence, MTN, Airtel, GLO and 9Mobile are lamenting, urging the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to intervene and stop OTT services .

In opposition to this, I suggest that OTT plays should be left alone, because we users buy data from the Telcoms to access services like WhatsApp, Skype, etc. While they are lamenting losses from voice/video calls, they are, on the other hand, jubilating from excess gains they make from data.

New Museum in Anambra State: Onitsha Museum

The Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano has laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Chimedie Museum in Onitsha. The museum, according to the governor was in part pursuit of the administration’s exploration and expansion of the state’s tourism potentials. He said, “my administration is exploring the state’s tourism potentials as a way of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the State”. China Opens Visa Centre In Abuja

As Posted By Thisdaylive The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Abuja has opened a new visa application centre in Abuja to facilitate procurement of Chinese visas for Abuja residents and environs. The centre, located at Churchgate Plaza, Central Business District, will commence operations from September 20, 2017, according to the Deputy Ambassador, Mr. Lin Jing. Jing said the visa application centre was opened to improve the service standard for applicants but not to harm the procedure.
